But with an email list, the customer belongs to you because you own their contact details. Email gives you the ability to tailor your message to attract specific audiences. It allows you to reach out to your audience and make a connection at a more personal level.

If you were wondering how to do email marketing, the most obvious place to start is to collect email addresses from your website visitors. Your website would be the ideal place for building your email list. That’s because you will be talking to people who have already shown an interest in you and your brand.
You must include a sign-up form on every page of your website. Invite the visitors to join your mailing list and become members of your community. Every website visitor is a potential customer.
Make sure visitors to your website do not have to search through the pages for the subscription form. Make it as easy as possible for them to subscribe. A well thought out and visible subscription form will increase the chances of people subscribing.
You can use opt-in bars or boxes at the top or bottom of a page. If designed well, it can blend into the design of a website. It won't bother the visitor and can be used to collect email in exchange for the free resources you provide.

It is important to move social media followers over to your website to collect contact details because on social media you don’t own your followers' contact details. If your account is closed for whatever reason you lose all your followers.

This seems like the most obvious option. Let me say up front that I’m not a fan of buying email lists because you can get sold burnout lists and end up wasting your money. It also turns out to be a low-quality list meaning it’s not people with a huge interest in you or your brand. They don’t know, like, or trust you and therefore will not be motivated to take out their wallets.
If you want to follow this route, it’s important to first make sure that the company that you’re buying the email lists from is a legitimate organization. It must be an established company and not some fly-by-night company.
Some of the options when looking to buy your email lists are InfoDataPlace, and Info USA if you’re in the US. These companies have been in the field for years. Please note, I’m not recommending this strategy or any company other than giving you an option to investigate this method further.

- I’m not a fan of buying email lists. It’s is so much better to put in the effort and grow your list of engaged followers yourself.

Another way to add to your existing email list is by encouraging your subscribers to forward your emails. Ask them to send it to those who’d be interested in the content or the product or service you provide and may benefit from it.
You may even motivate them by giving them a gift or benefit. Or highlight the benefits of your product or service so they feel compelled to share it with friends.
Recommendations by friends are powerful motivators because people trust their friends. Don’t underestimate the power of word-of-mouth.

Building your email list will benefit you and your customers. You will increase your income and your customers will get valuable information tailored to their interest.
Your email list is one of the most valuable assets of your business. If you decide to sell your business, it will increase your business' valuation. It’s important to build your list of email subscribers from the start and have a strategy to expand the list daily.
